Lehragaga : Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Friday exhorted the youth of Punjab to embrace sports and stay away from evil of drugs.

Presiding over the function of closing ceremony of Kabaddi tournament being held in the memory of her husband, Lal Singh Lalli Bhattal, she said that sports play a vital role in not only for maintaining physical fitness but developing all-round personality of an individual.

She said that sports help us also to alleviate stress and as well as stay fit and healthy. She said that having good health enables individual to be agile and have sound mind. He said that youth of Punjab who need positive direction and meaningful channelisation of their energy so that they can contribute significantly in the development of the state.

Hitting out at Parkash Singh Badal-led government, she said that present regime has failed miserably on all fronts. She said that SAD-BJP combine had made massive promises before elections but it has failed to deliver as nothing has been done on the ground.

She said that development of state has come to absolute standstill adding that due to which state’s progress has been stalled to great extent.
