Sangrur : Former Chief Minister and MLA from Lehragaga Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today exhorted the youth to embrace sports and stay away from drugs.
Presiding over the closing ceremony of a two-day kabaddi tournament, Bhattal said sports played a vital role not only in maintaining physical fitness, but also in developing all-round personality of an individual. The tournament was organised at Lehragaga in memory of her late husband Lal Singh Lalli.
Lashing out at the Badal government, she said the present regime had failed miserably on all fronts. The SAD-BJP combine made massive promises before the elections, but it had failed to fulfil them.
She said the development of the state had come to a standstill. The administration was mired neck-deep in corruption due to which the life of the common man had become miserable.
Bhattal also gave away cash prizes to the winners of the kabaddi tournament. The best raider prize was given to Sultan Sauspuria and the best jaffi prize to Ran Singh Rania.
Those present on the occasion included Punjab Youth Congress leader Rahulinder Singh Sidhu, in charge of Lal Singh Lalli Club Sanmeek Singh Henry, state president of the NSUI Daman Bajwa and coach Ishar Singh.
