Chandigarh : Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its supremo Arvind Kejriwal for their outstanding success in the Delhi Assembly elections, hoping that Kejriwal will be able to fulfill all the promises he has made to the people in the National Capital.
The former Punjab Chief Minister also appealed to the Congress rank and file that although the results were quite disappointing, yet there was nothing to feel demoralised about these.
“Performance in one or two elections does not decide the fate of a great party like Congress that is spread across the nook and corner of the country,” he observed, while asserting that the recent electoral results notwithstanding, Congress still remains a pan-India party representing all the regions and all the sections of the society.
In a statement issued here, Captain Amarinder said that the AAP victory has only reinforced the people’s belief in the vibrant democracy that is India. “In fact it is the victory of the democracy,” he remarked.
At the same time, the senior Congress leader hoped that the AAP is able to fulfill all the promised it made to the people before going to the elections. He said for example, people in Delhi have now great expectations that they will soon be getting abundant and free water, free electricity and free wifi. “I hope the new AAP government does fulfill these promises at least as it concerns everyone in Delhi,” he adding, while wishing the new government all the success.
