RULING PARTY DARES PPP SUPREMO TO COME CLEAN ON CONGRESS MEMBERSHIP, AAP ISSUE
Chandigarh : Ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) senior leaders and Cabinet Ministers Sikandar Singh Maluka and Sharanjit Singh Dhillon on Friday mocked at the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) supremo Manpreet Singh Badal, saying that he had once “deceived people by pledging at Khatkar Kalan that he would be not leave PPP till he breathed his last and now he was trying to camouflage his attempts of switch from Congress to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)”.
They also dared Manpreet to come clean as to why he had concealed the fact that he had joined the Congress on the eve of the Lok Sabha elections. In a joint statement issued here, the SAD leaders said that Manpreet was now telling another lie “that he had joined the Congress after not getting kite symbol, whereas the truth was that he had never applied for kite symbol.”
They said that Manpreet was actually party to a conspiracy hatched by Congress to destabilise the SAD-BJP government, but after failing to achieve the desired results he had joined the Congress.
Daring Manpreet to come clean on the issue of joining Congress, they asked Manpreet how a politician could run his own outfit by having primary membership of another national party.
Pointing toward his proximity with a Member Parliament of AAP, the Ministers said that this was no longer a secret that the same AAP leader had played vital role in delaying candidature of AAP candidate from Bathinda during Parliamentary elections and later fielding a candidate of weak stature so that Congress votes could not be diverted. They said that this was why AAP never campaigned seriously in Bathinda. “The same MP is now working as a mediator between AAP and Manpreet but the latter is not admitting to the same to conceal expected rejection from AAP side,” they asserted.
Asking Manpreet to stop telling lies, the SAD leaders advised him to adopt any new profession as he had himself destroyed his political career by deceiving people time and again. They said that over-ambitious people often meet this fate.
