BJP, SAD to contest against each other in Sangrur, Dhuri

SANGRUR: The Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP failed to reach a consensus in ward numbers 14 and 12 of Sangrur municipal committee as both the parties have fielded their candidates against each other from these two wards.
In the seat-sharing, ward number 14 had been given to the SAD and ward number 12 to the BJP, yet now the BJP has refused to give ward number 14 to the SAD and the BJP made it clear that they will not leave their traditional wards for SAD candidates. From ward number 14, BJP’s Vindo Kumar filed his nomination papers against SAD’s Jasvinder Prince who recently deserted the Congress.
SAD’s Vijay Kumar Lankesh has filed his nomination papers from ward number 12 against BJP’s Bindu Sahni, who is also daughter-in-law of BJP’s district unit president Jogi Ram Sahni.
BJP leaders from Dhuri municipal committee also refused to agree with seven seats given to them against the 14 to the SAD.
