Bhattal accuses Badal govt of failing to deal with swine flu

SANGRUR: Former chief minister and senior Congress leader, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal slammed Parkash Singh Badal government for failure to control the deadly H1N1 virus, which has taken lives of several people in the state.
In a statement issued here on Friday, Bhattal said Punjab government seems ill-prepared to deal with swine flu and said that there is a shortage of even testing kits in the state.,
She said that swine flu has so far claimed 22 lives in the state so far adding that besides this, 34 have tested positive for the H1N1 virus in various parts of the state.
Bhattal said that Badals are merely interested in pushing their own vested interests and political agenda and aren’t concerned for the welfare of common man. She said that state health department needs to tone up its functioning to deal with swine flu.She said that state government should carry out awareness progammes to educate the people for prevention of swine flu. Senior Congress leader said that government hospital needs to be equipped with testing kits and adequate medicines for combating swine flu.
