Kairon, Joshi hold closed-door meeting

PATTI (TARN TARAN): A meeting between Punjab food and civil supplies minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon and local bodies minister Anil Joshi on Tuesday evening assumes significance in view of the municipal council (MC) polls and the decision of the BJP not to join hands with the Akalis in Tarn Taran.
Representing Punjab in the meeting Bittu brought the issue of decreasing level of ground water, crops diversification and low income of farmers in the notice of union agriculture minister, officials of department and agriculture experts present in the meeting.
Advocating the 100 per cent subsidy of drip irrigation to farmers Bittu said that the level of ground water in Punjab is decreasing every year and the 56 zones in state have been declared black zones. The government should take serious note of it and fixed the Minimum Sale Price (MSP) of crops by keeping the present situation of farmers in mind.
While talking over the crops diversification Bittu said that the farmers wanted to adopts the farming of sugarcane but the sugar mills in Punjab are closed and the farmers have no option to sow wheat and other traditional crops.
Bittu, also asked the Published and writers to acknowledge the innovation of Punjab farmers so that the young generation should also adopts the agriculture business of their families.
