CHANDIGARH: Speaking against the motion on governor’s address, Congress MLA Brahm Mohindra on Monday said the Punjab government should take concrete steps to stake claim for Chandigarh.

“I am glad that in the governor’s address, the Parkash Singh Badal government has expressed seriousness to claim Chandigarh. There should be no problem this time as the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has its alliance partner — the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) — in power at the Centre. The congress will also extend support on this issue to fulfil the longpending demand of Punjab,” said Mohindra.

Though the governor’s address is the vision document of the state government which it intends to do in a year, it is never monitored by anyone if the promises mentioned in it are actually fulfilled, said the Congress legislator.

“Let the SAD-BJP government bring a white paper in six months on all previous governors’ addresses to see if the government actually kept the promises,” said Mohindra.
