Fatehgarh Sahib : Congress MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra today alleged the workers of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) were trying to intimidate Congress councillors since the municipal council meeting to elect the new president was to be held tomorrow.
Nagra said because the BJP had decided to project its own councillor for the post of president, the SAD workers were now planning to intimidate the Congress councillors.
He said he had already asked the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, to provide adequate security to the Congress councillors.
Nagra said the situation had become volatile as the SAD was trying to win the Sirhind election by hook or by crook. He alleged earlier too, the SAD workers had threatened Congress councillor Kuldeep Kaur with dire consequences. The MLA further said he would raise the issue during the Budget session in the Assembly.
