Dhuri : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa today appealed to voters to teach Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal a lesson in the Dhuri byelection. He alleged the Badals had looted the state.
He asked the people to vote for Congress candidate Simar Pratap Singh Barnala, the grandson of former CM Surjit Singh Barnala. Bajwa along with Simar and Surinderpal Sibia, vice-president of the PPCC, campaigned in the region today.
On former CM Captain Amarinder Singh and his loyalists joining the campaign in Dhuri, Bajwa declined to comment. “If I say anything then Capt’s upcoming tour will be cancelled. Let him do his work and let us do ours,” he said. Bajwa lashed out at the Badal government for failing to fulfil poll promises, made in the SAD’s manifesto in 2012 assembly elections. He said the government had not increased the Shagun Scheme amount from Rs 15,000 to Rs 31,000 and old-age pension from Rs 250 to Rs 500. Simar also criticised the SAD government for failing on all fronts.
