Bajwa sees ‘conspiracy’ behind bypoll

Pedhni Kalan (Dhuri) : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa today alleged the byelection had been forced upon Dhuri by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal due to two main reasons.

Bajwa alleged the first reason was that Sukhbir himself wanted to be the Chief Minister by removing his father Parkash Singh Badal from the post. He alleged the second was that he wanted to get rid of the BJP by attaining majority in the Assembly.

In the 117-seat Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the SAD has 58 MLAs of its own. It is, therefore, one short of absolute majority in the House.

Addressing an election rally, Bajwa alleged that Badal had all along been giving the excuse to Sukhbir that the BJP was not agreeing on his name for the top post.
