DURING THE LAST SANGAT DARSHAN, I GAVE YOU 24 LAKH FOR DEVELOPMENT. AFTER YOU ELECT LONGOWAL, I’LL GIVE YOU MORE PARKASH SINGH BADAL, Punjab CM, to Dhuri voters
SHAHPUR SODHIYAN: Addressing his last Dhuri campaign rally in villages, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday told the voters to elect Akali candidate Gobind Singh Longowal and leave development and the rest of the issues to him.
“During the last ‘sangat darshan’, I gave you ` 24 lakh for development. After you elect Longowal, I’ll give you more grants,” said Badal. “This win is important to me, because it’ll be endorsement of good work by the state government,” the CM added. He told the voters that they could make out how important the contest was. “All cabinet ministers are here to seek votes for Longowal. I got a chance to visit you again and get your feedback on where our government is lacking,” said Badal.
He said a big win for Longowal would help take the constituency’s voice to the assembly. Attacking the Barnala family, the scion of which is the rival candidate, the CM said: “Punish the people who deserted the party after enjoying all the plum posts. No court can punish the Barnalas, but the people can.”
Speaking of Longowal, Badal said he had a clean image and had never declined to do any work that the party had assigned to him. In reply to a question, the CM said the BJP leaders came to Dhuri every day but the media couldn’t see them. “The media can join the campaign on behalf of the BJP,” he said. Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa and public works department minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon were with him.
