Ludhiana: Former Union Minister and Ludhiana Congress MP Manish Tewari on Friday lashed out at the ruling Akali-BJP combine accusing it of misrule in the state. Tewari dared the Akalis to come out with a single achievement that they can claim to be their own other than pushing Punjab into drug addiction and ruining and entire generation. He said that the Akalis should feel ashamed of what they have done to Punjab during the last eight years of their rule.
“They have pushed the state towards bankruptcy and lawlessness while development is standstill,” he alleged after inaugurating a tubewell at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in Ward 59 for which he had contributed money from his MPLAD fund.
Tewari said that the effects of virtual bankruptcy were obvious in the state as there was no development worth its name. There were no civic amenities like drainage or drinking water particularly in the urban areas. With the onset of summer, there was strong apprehension of power cuts, spreading of various diseases but the administration does not seem prepared at all to tackle these problems in advance, he added.
