Chandigarh: Punjab Congress has claimed that around 20,000 farmers from Punjab will participate in the party’s farmers’ rally in Delhi on Sunday against the Centre’s land acquisition bill, the state party president Partap Singh Bajwa said here, on Saturday. Talking to media persons here, Bajwa said that as many as 300 buses and 1,000 four wheelers have been arranged for transportation of 20,000 volunteers from Punjab.

“Video of every single bus will be made and bus numbers will be given to the party high command to know who brought how many volunteers for the rally,” he said. He claimed all the Congress MLAs and district presidents are supporting this rally. To a query, he said his bête noire Captain Amarinder Singh’s supporters will also be coming for this rally. Bajwa hit out at the Akali Dal for supporting the amendments to the land bill in the Lok Sabha, saying it exposed the anti-farmer face of the saffron party which has been claiming to be the champion of farmers. He charged the state government with “not ensuring wheat procurement arriving in grain markets.”
