CHANDIGARH: Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday admitted that the bus involved in the incident belonged to a company owned by his family.

On Thursday, both Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had fobbed off the questions on ownership of the ‘Orbit Aviation company’ and had taken an ambiguous stand on the issue. “I don’t know who owns the bus,” Kaur had said outside Parliament.

Breaking his silence over the incident, Sukhbir said, “That fact (of ownership of the bus company) only adds to our responsibility. It’s absurd even to think that the incident of the company’s ownership should allow such brutality to go unpunished.”

“I am deeply pained by the utterly irresponsible and inhuman statements emerging from some Congress leaders. Instead of helping in assuaging the wounded feelings of the affected family, the opposition leaders have been latching on to it as a chance to buy lost political relevance,” he said. He said he did not want to comment before the police completed investigation and assured people that no one found guilty would be spared.
