PATIALA: Former Punjab deputy speaker Bir Devinder Singh has questioned the role of the police in ensuring that a compromise was reached between the Moga victim’s family and reiterated his demand for the resignation of the Badals to ensure a just probe into the case.
“It was was unethical for the police to pressure the victim’s family to arrive at a compromise and in fact it is cognizable crime under the IPC to suppress the complainants,” he claimed. He also added that Sukhbir and his wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal must resign to pave the way for fair and transparent investigation into the case.
“Fair investigation in the case in impossible as Sukhbir Singh Badal heads the home department and the Punjab Police is under him.”
