LUDHIANA: Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) senior leader Harvinder Singh Phoolka has shot off a letter to India’s President, stating that there was a complete breakdown of law and order in Punjab.

Members of AAP taking out a candlelight march to protest the Moga incident at BRS Nagar Canal Bridge in Ludhiana on Sunday.

Phoolka has stated that the police in the state was working to safeguard chief minister Prakash Singh Badal and his son deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in the backdrop of an incident in Moga in which a girl died when she was allegedly thrown out of Orbit bus, which is owned by Sukhbir.

“In two recent casesNirbhaya murder and Uber taxi case- the owners of the transport companies were held to be equally responsible for the crime. But in the present case, the Punjab Police are working only to protect and shield the Badal family,” Phoolka alleged.

He stated that in another case, a head constable in Jalandhar was beaten up by goons when he was trying to save his daughter from them.

“The police reached the spot and all they did was shifting the injured head constable to the hospital, who was being beaten up by the ‘goons’ who have close association with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLAs.

He also stated that it has been reported in the media that the driver of the bus didn’t have a valid license, which makes the owner directly responsible.

“Inspite of clear liability of the owner, the chief minister, deputy chief minister, and Union minister Harsimrat Badal who are all the owners/ shareholders/directors of the company- Orbit Aviations Pvt Ltd- the police instead of booking the guilty is working day and night to shield them,” Phoolka alleged.
