Chandigarh: Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday rejected Punjab Government’s decision to constitute a judicial commission to probe into the molestation and murder of a girl in a moving bus near Moga. “Since the matter is pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, there was no point in setting up a parallel probe,” Amarinder said in a statement issued here. Former Chief Minister pointed out that the Punjab and Haryana High Court had already taken suo motto notice of the issue and the matter was pending it with now. “What is the purpose of setting up an alternate probe,” he asked, while maintaining that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal should have faith in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Amarinder also took a jibe at Badal for setting up a committee to make recommendations for the safety of women in buses in Punjab. “Badal is simply trying to divert the public attention in his characteristic style instead of addressing the real issue,” he alleged.
