Left parties ask for Sukhbir’s arrest

AMRITSAR: Demanding the registration of a case against Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in the Moga molestation and murder case, the Left parties on Wednesday staged a protest march and burnt effigy of Sukhbir.

The Left activists, including Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI (Marxist) and CPI (MarxistLeninist), started the protest march from the local Pink Plaza market, which culminated at the Hall Gate with the burning of Sukhbir Badal’s effigy.

Raising slogans against the Punjab government, the activists alleged that the people of Punjab were fed up with the attitude of Orbit Transport Company and the Moga incident was an indication of high headedness. They demanded that the deputy CM must immediately be booked by police.

Demanding a probe into the incident by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Left parties alleged that Orbit buses had been flouting norms due to Sukhbir, and a detailed inquiry was required. SLOGANS AGAINST GOVT RAISED IN JALANDHAR JALANDHAR: Activistsof Naujawan Bharat Sabha and Punjab Student Union gheraoed the office of IndoCanadian Transport Company, which is owned by the Badal family, near the city bus stand on Wednesday morning and raised slogans against SAD-BJP government over lawlessness in the state.

They demanded registration of a case against deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in relation to the Moga molestation case in which a 13-year-old girl died after being thrown off an Orbit bus, also owned by the Badal family, by her molesters recently. Soon after, the activists reached the headquarters of the bus company. The protests subsided after the intervention of the police.
