Gurdaspur : The Bains brothers — Simranjit Singh and Balwinder Singh — both sitting Independent legislators, levelled serious charges against the state government at a rally addressed by them at a local marriage palace here today.

Simranjit Singh said they had formed the Team Insaaf to look into the alleged financial improprieties being committed by the SAD leaders. “There are nearly 750 stone crushers operating illegally in Ropar, Nawashahar and Pathankot districts. The proprietors of these units are regularly contributing to the coffers of the ruling family of the state. That is the reason why the police and the local administration of these districts do not take action against these units which have been running illegally ever since the state government was formed by the SAD in 2007. We have concrete proof about this and will come out in the open at the opportune time,” said Balwinder Singh.

He added that the Team Insaaf would run its anti-corruption movement in a professional manner and expose the politicians who were indulging in illegal mining.
