CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday called upon chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to resign, saying Badal’s writ had stopped running in the administration with the state “turning into a jungle raj going by yet another alarming case of molestation of two Dalit girls by the conductor of a bus they were travelling in.

“It is high time at the age of 92 that he should retire to the oldage home that he had built in his native village,” Bajwa said in a statement here. Bajwa highlighted that the bus in which the two girls were molested belonged to Akali leader Hardeep Singh Dhillon. He said it was Dhillon’s bus that was smashed by the protesting youth who were booked for attempt to murder.

Punjab Congress spokesman Sukhpal Khaira, in a separate statement here, said Punjab urgently needed to adopt the ‘conflict of interest’ law. Khaira claimed that the Badal-MajithiaKairon clans had vested interests in various businesses.
