CHANDIGARH: Punjab local bodies minister Anil Joshi has stated on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s completing one year in office that its national cleanliness mission should become a mass movement.
He said the central government had working for an allinclusive growth of society with its social engineering agenda. “Swachh Bharat is flagship mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and all local government department officials should try their best to make it a success,” said the minister.
Stating that no movement could succeed without public support, the minister said the organisers of langars (community kitchens) should take care of sanitation around the venues and the civic officials should deploy dumpers there for a nominal fee. About saving electricity in street-lighting, Joshi said a team from Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Corporation had visited Gujarat for studying solutions.
