Abohar : Leader of the Opposition Sunil Jakhar today slammed the state and Central Governments for pursuing anti-businessmen policies.

Speaking at a meeting of Beopar Mandal here, he said the BJP had promised to simplify the taxation structure which abetted corruption at all levels but nothing had been done in this direction.

The businessmen had nothing to cheer over in the first year of the NDA Government which too had promised a moon but Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his senior Cabinet colleagues had concentrated only on their hidden agendas.

He said variation in tax tariff over most of the commodities in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan had harmed businessmen and consumers equally.

Notwithstanding tall claims made by the state government, transporters and traders still faced harassment at inter-state tax barriers. While vehicles carrying fresh supplies of domestic use goods were held up, trucks with liquor and drugs went unchecked, he claimed.

Punjab Cotton Factories Association president Vijay Nagpal and block Congress president Sudhir Nagpal assured all help to Suresh Bansal who had recently been elected president of Beopar Mandal here.
