Heavy security ahead of Cong protest

Ludhiana : Ahead of protest by Congress party at mini secretariat, the police have made foolproof security arrangements to maintain law and order situation in the city.
The district Congress have announced to hold a massive protest at Mini secretariat and to put a lock on the office of Deputy Commissioner against the policies of the government.
After getting the reports from the intelligence agencies and media, the senior police officials deployed the heavy police force outside the Deputy Commissioner office.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (headquarters0 Sukhpal Singh Brar said five SHO’s will be deployed along with the heavy police force. The senior police officials will present on the spot to tackle with law and order situation, he added.
Brar further said that no one will be allowed to take law and order situation in hand and more force will be deployed according to the situation during the protest. The cops of Quick rapid Action force (QRTS).will barricade the DC office.
When asked about the implementation of section 144, ADCP Brar said under section 144 prohibitory orders more than five persons cannot gather at one place. The Police will take strict action if the orders will be violated.
On Saturday also Congress leaders held a protest at various points in city and openly violated the prohibitory orders of Police but no action has been taken against them so far. MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu and district Congress president Gurpreet Bassi Gogi said they are protesting for the common people and will face police cases for this.
On Friday MP Ravneet Singh Bittu while announcing the agitation against the state government said, the ever increasing prices of essential commodities are hurting common man likes never before and the recent decision will burden him further. It is the duty of the Governments to provide relief to the people. Since, the Akali-BJP state Government has failed in its duty the opposition Congress will force it to take steps for people’s welfare, he said.
When asked that common people will suffer at government offices with the agitation of party, MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu said harassment at government offices is a routine affair as no government official meets the people to redress their grievances. The government and officials failed to deliver for the common people, added Ashu.
