Jalandhar : “Straight rejection of the special financial package to state by the BJP-led NDA government is a matter of concern for the state,” said People’ Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Badal and also condemned the state government for their failure in bringing this package for the residents.

He claimed that during Parliament elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised special package for the state and even Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had announced several times that they would get enough support from Central government which they did not get during UPA government regime. “All these promises have proved false,” he claimed while adding that even in the 13th finance commission, Punjab was among the deserving states to get this financial package but in the 14th finance commission it has been rejected.

Manpreet Badal condemned the state government while claiming that they could not pit up their case at the centre government level properly which was the biggest reason behind this denial. He said that the Chief Minister should take up this matter and question the decision of the centre government as to why they deny this package to Punjab. Earlier also, when wheat crop had got damaged due to untimely rain, the state government could do nothing for the farmers.
