CHANDIGARH: The Congress party’s deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday rejected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contention that the issue of ‘one rank, one pension’ (OROP) was too complex to be resolved soon.
“The Prime Minister should better have announced a date to implement the OROP instead of dishing out vague assurances,” Amarinder said, in response to Modi’s appeal to the ex-servicemen to have patience, during his radio address on Sunday.
“Yes, their patience is running out and you (Modi) are responsible,” Amarinder said, adding that if the government could give a billion dollars to Mongolia, then why was he denying OROP to ex-servicemen, which was ‘just a matter of `9,100 crore’.
