AMRITSAR: The Dhaul Kalan gram panchayat in the Amritsar parliamentary constituency has accorded its approval to the development plan for the village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).
Amritsar Member of Parliament (MP) Capt Amarinder Singh had chosen Dhaul Kalan village for development under the scheme — a brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had asked all MPs to choose a village from their respective constituencies for development.
The panchayat members led by sarpanch Dilraj Singh Sarkaria gave their approval to the plan during a meeting with the heads of various departments at the village on Saturday.
The meeting was presided over by Amritsar deputy commissioner (DC) Ravi Bhagat.
The approved plan will now be sent to the union ministry for rural development through the Punjab government, while changes can be made in the plan in accordance with the rural development ministry.
“Under SAGY, all schemes of the central and state governments will be executed in Dhaul Kalan on priority basis and the funds for these schemes will be allocated by both the governments. The MP, too, can contribute from his Member Parliament’s Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund,” stated Bhagat. DEPARTMENT HEADS LIST OUT SCHEMES
At the meeting, the heads of each state government department at the district-level listed out the schemes that will be implemented in the village and talked about the availability of funds. It was only after the panchayat gave its nod, the scheme was approved by the district administration.
The agriculture department will be holding training camps for farmers from time-to-time in the village.
