CHANDIGARH: People’s Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Singh Badal on Monday on took a jibe at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for claiming that 2015 is the year of Punjab’s development.

“You are among the seniormost political leaders in the country and it is not appropriate for a leader of your stature to mislead the people on issues that directly concern them. You should have the guts to admit that this year the focus of development in Punjab has only been Pallanpur where your family is constructing a 7-star resort”, said Manpreet.

“People won’t buy your tall claims. They have been provided a fleet of luxury buses run by your family at the cost of the state transport,” said Manpreet.

“It’s a matter of great concern that the state was bankrupt and the Centre had been refusing to rescue it despite the Shiromani Akali Dal being an ally of the ruling BJP,” he said.

Manpreet also slammed Badal for repeatedly claiming that Punjab had gained from the report of the 14 Finance Commission saying the facts were contrary to the Chief Minister’s statement.

He said the Union finance ministry had ruled out any special package for the state and even the central assistance had gone down as compared to earlier allocations.

The PPP chief said it was the duty of the Chief Minister to carry out development activities in the state.

“He is not supposed to work only for promoting his family owned businesses,” claimed Manpreet.
