Chandigarh : People’s Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Singh Badal today alleged the state government’s refusal to remove Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s photos from ambulances cost the state dear. He said the state had lost Rs 23.8 crore that was provided for the ambulances under a central scheme.
He said, “Even the NDA government had withheld allocation under the scheme. I wonder why Badal wants to see his pictures on ambulances,” he said.
The former finance minister said a bankrupt state like Punjab could ill-afford such costly acts of the ruling government. He said the state lost Rs 9.32 crore in 2012-13, Rs 7.28 crore in 2013-14 and Rs 7.2 crore in 2014-15 as the Chief Minister refused to remove his photographs from the vehicles. He demanded an apology from Badal.
Manpreet also pointed out that ration cards carried Badal’s photos even though these cards wouldn’t expire with the ouster of the government.
