RUPNAGAR: Former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Friday said that the Punjab government must spell out its toll plaza policy.

Former Punjab chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal talking to mediapersons at Rupnagar on Friday.

Talking to mediapersons at the residence of former Nangal MLA Rana KP Singh here, Bhattal alleged that the government did not have a clear-cut toll plaza policy.

She alleged that there was no toll plaza in the Bathinda area, which was represented by the Badal family. On the other hand, a number of toll plazas had been set up in other parts of the state ,which had caused resentment among people.

She also demanded that on the occasion of 350th foundation day of Anandpur Sahib, the government must remove the Nakkian toll plaza situated near the town as a large number of devotees visiting Anandpur Sahib and Naina Devi temple passed through it daily.

Bhattal alleged that the Punjab government had miserably failed on all fronts and the state was in a financial mess.

She said that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders had made tall claims that after the formation of NDA government at the Centre, “truckload of money” would come from the Centre to Punjab.

However, the central government had not given a single penny to the state, she added.

She also said that the claim of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to make Punjab a power-surplus state proved to be hollow as the state would be purchasing power from outside during paddy season.

Meanwhile, Bhattal’s visit to the residence of Rana KP Singh, who is a loyalist of former Punjab chief minister and deputy leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh, has given rise to speculations.

Former Punjab minister Romesh Dutt Sharma, former District Congress Committee president Sukhwinder Singh Whisky, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (OBC department) chairman Gurinder Pal Singh Billa and former All India Congress Committee member Ramesh Goyal were also present on the occasion.
