Ferozepur : Raising the banner of revolt against his own party leaders, former BJP MLA and halqa in charge, Ferozepur, Sukhpal Singh Nannu today held a protest along with his supporters.
He levelled allegations of corruption against a section of MC officials and some BJP leaders reportedly close to state BJP chief Kamal Sharma.
He alleged the accused siphoned off huge money meant for the development of the town. Nannu alleged the material being used in the construction of footpaths along the circular road was substandard. Nannu said in almost every work being undertaken by the MC, huge commissions were being charged at the cost of quality.
The two-time BJP MLA, Nannu also raised objection over the contract awarded for cleaning sewerage in the town to a private company whom he alleged was duping the MC.
The MC had paid Rs87 lakh to the firm, but the latter failed to complete the work due to which the residents had to bear the brunt after the sewerage choked at several places.
