Ropar : Former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has demanded the removal of the Nakkian toll plaza on the way to Anandpur Sahib and Naina Devi on the 350th foundation day of Anandpur Sahib. Bhattal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to visit the town on June 19 on the occasion and the Chief Minister should ensure that these religious places were free of toll plazas.

Bhattal, who was here to meet senior Congress leader and AICC member Rana KP Singh, said the devotees visiting these two religious places were forced to shell out ‘zazia’ of Rs 90 at the entry of Anandpur Sahib. On the other hand, on the way to Bhatinda, the constituency of Badal family, no toll plaza had been set up, she said.

She said that there was “no transparent policy on the location of toll plazas” in the state.

Replying a query over factionalism in the state Congress, the former chief minister said that all Congress leaders were sinking their differences and were ready to take on the SAD-BJP alliance.
