Bhoa (Pathankot) :PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa today claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had befooled the people by raising the slogan of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ before the Lok Sabha elections. His motto now was ‘Jai Adani, Jai Ambani’, he said.
Bajwa was today interacting with the people in the Bhoa reserved Assembly constituency as part of PPCC mass contest programme in which all the 34 reserved Vidhan Sabha seats will be covered.
Talking of the shifting priorities of the PM, Bajwa referred to the One Rank One Pension (OROP) issue about which Modi had said at his rally of ex-servicemen at Rewari “that its implementation would be his first decision after forming the government”.
The issue had now been put on the back burner on one pretext or the other, Bajwa said.
He recalled that it was due to the persistent efforts of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi that the UPA government had taken the decision in principle on this long-pending major demand of ex-servicemen. A budget of Rs 500 crore was also allocated for the implementation of OROP.
“Modi has not only backtracked on almost every promise of his but has even gone to the extent of cheating ex-servicemen on this issue. The decision had already been taken by the Manmohan Singh government and only the next logical step was left to be taken,” he said.
He expressed the apprehension that going by the delay in its implementation, the issue might be dropped. He said that his party was clear that in case the paramilitary forces raise this demand, the same should also be given due emphasis keeping in view their service conditions.
