Bhattal pooh-poohs austerity measures

Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said on Tuesday that directions issued by the state government to its ministers, senior officers and heads of all government and semi-government departments to practice austerity in public expenditure during fiscal year of 2015-16 is “merely a cosmetic exercise to hide its failures on financial front pushing state on verge of bankruptcy.” I• a statement, she alleged that that fact of the matter was that that “present regime was resorting to reckless spending of funds alleging that corruption has seeped into every sphere of administration in the state”. Bhattal said that “due to rampant corruption in the state administration at various levels, common man has been subjected to great hardship and finding very difficult to get even their routine works done.”
