Gidderbaha : Congress activists led by Indian Youth Congress (IYC) chief-cum-Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring protested outside the SDM’s office here today. They were seeking justice for some genuine people whose names were recently deleted from the list of beneficiaries of the old-age pension scheme.

Warring along with district Congress president Gurmeet Singh Khuddian and a large number of party workers handed over a memorandum to SDM Mandeep Kaur.

They also took some elderly people to her office, who claimed that they were not just shown dead in the new list but were also being told to visit SAD leaders to get registered as beneficiaries again.

“I am 60 years old but shown dead on the list. When I spoke to the officials concerned, they told me to approach the sarpanch and get in writing from him that I am alive,” said Parkash Kaur of Karaiwala village.

Warring said, “The state government is facing acute shortage of funds and so, deleted the names of a large number beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the state government is lavishly spending on facilitating a luxurious lifestyle for the ruling Badal family. We will not sit silent and raise this issue on every platform.”
