KUMAR SLAMS THE MODI GOVERNMENT FOR GIVING CLEAN CHIT TO RAJASTHAN CHIEF MINISTER, WHILE IT WAS A CLEAR CASE OF CORRUPTION
GURDASPUR: Former union minister for justice and law and Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Ashwani Kumar said there could be no bigger lie than Punjab chief minister saying that All India Congress Committee’s vice-president Rahul Gandhi had no love for the farmers and terming his (Rahul’s) visit to the farmer’s family who committed suicide a political stunt.
Kumar was addressing a press conference at his residence here on Tuesday.
He said Rahul Gandhi had visited the bereaved family to share their sorrow and express his sympathy with them.
The Congress leader said Rahul Gandhi was raising the voice, especially for the sufferings of the poor and the farmers.
Kumar reminded the SADBJP government that it was the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre that had waived off `72,000 crore loans of the marginal farmers of the country.
He said it was the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government that had passed law that the farmers would get four time the price of their cultivable land if the government needed to acquire it.
He said the Food Security Act, Right to Information Act, Right to Education Act etc were all passed by the UPA government.
Kumar claimed that the Narendra Modi government was furthering all policies and programmes of the previous UPA government as he had nothing to offer to the people of India.
Kumar lashed out at the Narendra Modi government for giving clean chit to Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, while it was a clear cut case of corruption after her son admitted that certain company’s share worth `10 was sold for `96,000.
Kumar said the BJP had levelled false charges of corruption against some of the ministers of the Manmohan Singh government, but none of them was proved.
Kumar said the Modi government had come to power on the basis of BJP’s false propaganda against the Congress-led UPA government and would not survive for long.
The Congress MP said the Modi government was not only of ‘Suit-Boot wali sarkar, but it was also a jhooth-mooth wali sarkar’.
Kumar said the NDA would face humiliating defeat in the coming assembly elections in all states.
Commenting on the performance of the Badal government, Kumar sought to know from the chief minister had he brought even `1 from the Centre for Punjab since the BJP-led NDA government was formed at the Centre last year.
He pointed out that pollution and cancer were the top problems in Punjab, but the state government had not taken any effective steps to curb them.
