IT’S UNBELIEVABLE THAT A SENIOR POLITICIAN LIKE BADAL IS FACING SUCH HUMILIATION AT THE HANDS OF BJP LEADERS. MANPREET SINGH BADAL, PPP chief
CHANDIGARH: People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) chief Manpreet Singh Badal on Saturday said the’repeated humiliation’ of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal by senior BJP leaders and ministers has reduced the Akali Dal-BJP alliance to just a façade.
“Some days ago, Union home minister Rajnath Singh had virtually indicted the Badal government on drug issue. On Friday, there was a showdown between the chief minister and Union minister of social justice and empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot in full public view at the state-level function to mark International Day against Drugs in Hoshiarpur,” said Manpreet.
“One fails to understand why the Akali Dal and the BJP haven’t parted ways yet. There’s no common ground between the two except the politics of opportunism, crony capitalism and political survival,” he added.
He said it was just unbelievable that a senior politician like Badal was facing such humiliation at the hands of BJP leaders. “Rather than joining issues with Gehlot, the respectable way out for Badal would have been to call off the alliance,” said Manpreet.
“If the Akali Dal was so confident of providing good governance and the so-called claims of taking the state to higher orbit of development were true, what’s preventing Badal from opting for snap polls,” asked Manpreet.
