Adampur (Jalandhar) : Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s jibe on the Majithia family at a rally in Amritsar two days ago, was meant to appease Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Captain said this on the sidelines of his rally organised by former MP Satnam Kainth at Adampur.

“We all know Jaitley has been blaming Bikramjit Majithia for his defeat from the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat. It is thus clear that Badal was targeting his family to impress Jaitley.”

The Amritsar MP said: “While saying so, Badal did not even care that it is actually his own family. The CM is getting clever with his is age.”

He had been targeting Majithia earlier too. “I don’t think he likes him,” he said.

The former CM alleged: “They (Badals) are interested only in looting the state and creating their own wealth. Currently, he is focussing on constructing five and seven star hotels in India and abroad at a cost over Rs1,000 crore. The question is where is the wealth coming from.”

Despite opposition by Doaba Congress leaders to setting up of AIIMS in Bathinda, Capt endorsed Union Minister Harsimrat Badal’s stand that it was required there because of high prevalence of cancer. “The government must get similar infrastructure and faculty for PIMS in Jalandhar too, especially when their minister Surjit Rakhra’s job in the institute is over,” he said.
