HOSHIARPUR: To mock at the shortage of sand in the district, Congress workers led by district president and local MLA Sunder Sham Arora on Wednesday held a stall at the Clock Tower Chowk right in front of the city police station and ‘sold’ the construction material in small bags.

“Sand shortage has hit all construction activities due to the greed of the ruling parties,” Arora alleged.
“The parties first plundered the mineral wealth and now in the name of putting a ban on illegal mining have created a shortage. People are suffering a lot due to the non-availability of sand and construction work has come to a standstill. We have staged the protest to awaken the government,” Arora claimed.
He alleged that the SAD had virtually taken over all businesses in the state including cable network, transport, industry, real estate and mining.
