Patiala : Former CM Capt Amarinder Singh today asked PM Narendra Modi as to why the Centre could not spare Rs 9,100 crore for one rank one pension (OROP) when it could grant Rs 1 lakh crore special package to Jammu and Kashmir.

Capt Amarinder regretted the long and unexplained delay in granting OROP to the ex-servicemen even though the previous UPA government had approved it. He reminded the Prime Minister of the promises he had made to the ex-servicemen before elections.

“Over a year has passed since Modi formed the government and the matter is deliberately being delayed,” Capt said.

The Congress leader criticised the Centre for being so insensitive towards the ex-servicemen, who had done so much for the country. He said the government should respect its soldiers who had laid down their life for the country, guarding its borders in hostile conditions.
