JALANDHAR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur on Saturday said he would visit Canada in the first week of August to woo non-resident Indians (NRIs) for the 2017 assembly elections.

Chhotepur claimed that he has applied for a visa and was waiting for green signal from Canada authorities.

“NRIs form an integral part of our plan for assembly elections. They had reposed faith in us during the Lok Sabha elections,” Chhotepur told reporters here.

When asked about allegations of AAP’s senior leader Himmat Singh Shergill that party’s MP Harinder Singh “Khalsa had been bought over by the Badals,” Chhotepur claimed that he had no information on these allegations being leveled.

He, however, later clarified that he had talked to Shergill who claimed that he had evidence against Khalsa.

Over former state executive member Dr Daljeet Singh who was recently expelled, state convener claimed that party would not tolerate indiscipline.

He claimed that in the coming days, several big leaders of both Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal would join the AAP. Chhotepur said he cannot reveal their names at this juncture. He also welcomed Congress leader Balraj Singh and his 25 supporters into the AAP fold during the press conference.
