JALANDHAR: Punjab Congress spokesperson Nimisha Mehta on Monday expressed shock over Dinanagar terrorist attack and lambasted deputy chief minister-cum-home minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for total security lapse and intelligence failure in the highly sensitive state.

Seeking his resignation, Nimisha said Sukhbir Badal had no moral responsibility to continue as the deputy chief minister of the state. “While the state is under terrorist attack, Sukhbir is enjoying vacation in Poland and Hungary,” she added. She said, “The Dinanagar incident has proved that intelligence and all agencies of state government have failed badly. The Punjab police seem have only a gang of khakhi dacoits deputed by the government to loot the general public and collect money through corruption,” she alleged.

Ridiculing CM Badal for his claim of peaceful state during Sangat Darshan at Jandiala Guru, the Congress spokesperson said Badal must accept the failure of his government, instead of diverting the attention of public towards ceiling of the border.

She also criticised the role of the chief minister and said the Dinanagar terrorist attack was the result of Akali’s practice of ‘playing with the fire’. “The Akalis have been known for supporting the cause of terrorism and terrorists in Punjab,” she said.

The Congress leader said whether it was the decision of bringing back Delhi blasts convict Davinder Pal Singh Bhullar from Delhi’s Tihar Jail to Amritsar or Gurdeep Singh Khera from Karnataka jail, or supporting Baldev Singh Rajoana, the Badal government was eyeing to gain out of terrorism.
