Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday blamed Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for deliberately ignoring the intelligence alert sounded to him by the national security advisor (NSA) around possible terror attack in Punjab about 10 days ago.

The former CM said NSA Ajit Doval in his statement had made it clear that he had informed the state government about the intelligence reports, showing possibility of terror attack in Punjab in coming days, while director general of police (DGP) Sumedh Singh Saini had denied to have received any such information in this regard.
“It means there is a mistake on part of the CM or deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, as they ignored the warnings. The government appears to have ignored the warning and the consequences are before us to be seen,” he added.
He said the alert was not specific, but Badal should have taken some security measures after being alerted by the NSA. “The security wasn’t beefed up in the state and the terrorists freely entered the Dinanagar police station,” he added.
Amarinder also said Badal had a habit of playing panthic agenda before elections, which was dangerous for Punjab. “Such elements should be avoided as they can always exploit situations. But Badal is fond of raking up panthic agenda for his personal and partisan interests,” he alleged.
Criticising Sukhbir Singh Badal over not cutting short his foreign trip, Amarinder said being the home minister, he should have returned to the state after such a grave incident. “Any sensible and responsible person in his place would have rushed back after learning about such incident,” he added.
Amarinder was in city to pay condolences to the family of Gurdaspur superintendent of police (Detective) Baljit Singh who lost his life, battling militants in Dinanagar on Monday. Paying tributes to late SP Baljeet Singh, Amarinder said, “Three generation of the family have lost their lives in serving the state. Badal should immediately announce jobs for his family.”
