CHANDIGARH: Terming the alleged drug links of state BJP leaders a threat to national security, state Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Sunil Jakhar on Thursday demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter.

“The BJP doublespeak over the drug issue is exposed. Being part of the ruling alliance, the BJP is trying to suppress the issue by just accepting the resignations of the Ferozepur BJP and BJYM chiefs and not wanting any further investigation. There should be a judicial inquiry into the case by a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court,” Jakhar stated here.

Referring to PM Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” monthly radio broadcast, Jakhar said the PM had himself said that the drug income funded terrorist activities. “That makes the BJP leaders’ alleged links with drug smugglers dangerous for national security,” he said.
