Congress members protesting the suspension of party MPs in Parliament, at Sector 35 in Chandigarh on Thursday.
Police had a tough time controlling the agitating workers, who jumped through barricades and burnt the effigy.
Terming Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan a puppet in the hands of Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party, city Congress chief Pardeep Chhbara said the suspension of the MPs was a murder of the democracy and a black day in the history of Parliament.
He added the same BJP leaders, who pressurised the speaker to take undemocratic and unjustified action, had stalled several Parliament sessions than any other party in the past.
“When the BJP was in Opposition, it never allowed Parliament to function over its trivial issues and wasted several sessions," he added.
