SAD, BJP partners in crime too: Ahmed

Phagwara : All India Congress Committee general secretary and Punjab affairs in charge Shakeel Ahmed today accused the Badal-led SAD-BJP government of patronising the drug mafia in the state.

Talking to mediapersons at the residence of former minister Joginder Singh Maan here this evening, he said after several Akali ministers, now the name of state BJP chief Kamal Sharma had cropped up in drugs case. It proved that both alliance partners were hand in glove over the matter, he alleged.

Ahmed said when rulers became traders, the people were bound to suffer. On the “cold war” between former CM Capt Amarinder Singh and PPCC chief Partap Bajwa, Ahmed admitted that there were differences between both leaders on certain issues, but claimed that both leaders were working to strengthen the party.

Sharma should quit: Bajwa

Hoshiarpur: State BJP president Kamal Sharma should resign following the arrest of his PA, said PPCC president Partap Bajwa here today. Bajwa said serious allegations were levlled against ministers and MLAs of the ruling alliance, including Bikram Majithia. Since two investigations had different outcomes, the case should be probed by the CBI, he demanded.

On a query, he said there were no differences between him and Capt Amarinder.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
