PM Modi may visit Moga on Aug 28

Moga : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Dhudike village in the district on August 28 to preside over the celebrations of 150th birth anniversary of Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai, who was born and brought up at his maternal grandparents’ house in the village. No senior officer of the state or the district administration has confirmed the visit, but said Modi might visit the village.

Industries and Technical Education Minister Madan Mohan Mittal visited the village yesterday and reviewed the arrangements for the PM’s likely visit.

Mittal assured the villagers that Dhudike would be developed as a model village and all their demands related to developments works would be met. Senior administrative officers also visited the village to take stock of the arrangements.

Meanwhile, the Moga police had beefed-up security in and around the village and at the district headquarters in Moga, besides at all vulnerable places in the district for Independence Day celebrations and the expected visit of the PM.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
