Moga : Sarbjit Kaur, former SAD sarpanch of Dhurkot Kalan village, her son and a few of her supporters have been booked for allegedly beating two women and a youth in the village. The incident took place on July 27.

The local police that were trying to protect Sarbjit had to register a case after a video of the incident went viral. In a complaint to the police, Sarbjit along with others allegedly beat Manpreet Kaur of Dhurkot Kalan village, her friend Geeta Rani of Dhalleke village and a youth, when they went to Sarbjit’s house to ask for their money. Sarbjit’s son allegedly made a video of the incident and posted it on social media.

Both women and the youth were also held in illegal confinement for many hours before the local police freed them. Though the SHO of Ajitwal police station came to the site to free the victims, he didn’t book the accused under political pressure.

When the victims approached the SSP on August 9 and apprised him of the video posted on social media, a case was registered. However, no one has been arrested so far.
