Patiala : Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi has expressed concern over the recovery of detonators and other explosive devices from the car of Akali leaders in Bathinda and blamed the state government and police officials of trying to “hush up” the matter.

Expecting Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to come clean on this issue, Gandhi demanded a CBI inquiry into the seizure.

He said, “Punjab has already suffered immense loss in 1980s and 1990s and cannot afford violence and social disturbance anymore. The involvement of Akali leaders in transportation of the material of mass destruction could well be a part of deep conspiracy.”

Launching an attack on the ruling alliance, Gandhi alleged that the way the culprits were being treated with kid gloves by the government raised serious doubt about the intentions of the government. “This event has given rise to suspicion that some forces are getting re-activated in Punjab for narrow political gains in the wake of the upcoming 2017 elections,” he alleged.
