Chandigarh : Former MLA Sukhpal Nannu has sought the removal of BJP state president Kamal Sharma because his close aides allegedly have links with drug smugglers. In letters addressed to BJP national president Amit Shah and to members of the core group of the state unit, Nannu has listed criminal cases registered against a number of Sharma’s close aides.
On Sharma’s personal assistant and Jughraj Katora, president, Ferozepur unit of the party, being booked for allegedly helping drug smugglers, Nannu said the image of the state BJP had suffered a major dent due to the development.
Nannu has appealed to the core group of the state unit to remove the state president and bar him from contesting the elections to the post. The elections are scheduled in October, this year.
Sharma has defended himself, saying he had suspended both the accused from the party several days before the cases were registered.
